Self-hosted off-grid power and sensor monitoring, on your own hardware.
Built from any device, bank, or the Estimated Consumption estimate — see the Devices page for that one, it has its own math.
No cards yet — click "+ Add card" to build one from any device, bank, or the Estimated Consumption estimate.
Computed fields — add/subtract any live fields, then show the result on a card (source "Computed").
No computed fields yet — e.g. "Effective yield today" = + a regulator's YieldTodayWh − Estimated Consumption's ConsumedTodayWh.

Combine batteries into a bank
Wired-together packs (e.g. two in series) show up as one combined card, first in this tab.
Scan for nearby BLE devices to find and authorize new ones. Devices flagged
victron broadcast Victron's manufacturer ID and need an
encryption key (VictronConnect → gear icon → Product Info → Instant Readout → Show) —
everything else (including JBD-based batteries) just needs a name.

Zigbee devices (via Zigbee2MQTT + a Conbee II or similar) are paired using
Zigbee2MQTT's own frontend ("Permit join"), not here — this just lists what's
already paired so you can add it to offgrid.
Friendly name

Already know a device's MAC address? Register it directly here instead of scanning.
Victron device
SmartSolar, Orion Smart, SmartShunt, ...
Whether it's a regulator, converter, or shunt is detected automatically from what it broadcasts — no need to choose.
JBD-based battery
Solarmare, Epoch, and other JBD/Xiaoxiang BMS packs
No encryption key needed — just a name and MAC address.
Zigbee2MQTT sensor
Aqara, and other Zigbee2MQTT-paired devices
Use its Zigbee2MQTT friendly name (from the Discover page above, or its own frontend), not a MAC address.
What offgrid is
A self-hosted monitoring dashboard for an off-grid solar + battery
system, running entirely on your own hardware (a Raspberry Pi) —
no cloud account, no vendor app, no data leaving your network.
It started as a Victron + JBD battery telemetry collector and has
grown into a general off-grid and home sensor dashboard.
Features
Passive BLE scanning for Victron devices (SmartSolar/BlueSolar MPPT chargers, Orion Smart DC-DC converters, SmartShunt/BMV battery monitors) — no gateway or cloud relay needed.
Active polling of JBD/Xiaoxiang-based LiFePO4 BMS battery packs over BLE.
Zigbee sensor integration via Zigbee2MQTT (e.g. the Aqara W100 climate sensor) — the same collect-and-display pattern as the power-system devices.
Battery banks: series/parallel-wired packs combined into one logical reading (voltage, current, SOC, power), computed live from members' own data.
Estimated Consumption: a derived load estimate (solar charge − battery net − cable/loss), with a directly-measured regulator-cable-loss term and a statistically fitted downstream-loss coefficient, plus a running "Consumed Today" total in Wh.
Cards: build your own dashboard card from any field on any device, bank, or the consumption estimate — reorderable, with per-card history charts. Computed fields add/subtract live values or turn a power into a daily Wh total (e.g. effective yield today).
History charts with pinch/scroll zoom and drag-to-pan, plus a "raw (no smoothing)" toggle for comparing against the underlying unsmoothed readings.
A device registry with discover-and-authorize flows for BLE and Zigbee devices, manageable entirely from the dashboard — no config-file editing for day-to-day use.
Tiered history retention: today's readings stay at full resolution, then get progressively downsampled (30s buckets after a day, coarsening further over weeks) — keeps storage and query time bounded without ever deleting history outright.
Direction
offgrid is under active, incremental development, steered by what's
actually useful to run day to day rather than a fixed roadmap.
Themes currently in view:
More sensor types beyond climate — door/window contacts, motion, generator monitoring, water tank level, freezer/fridge temperature, weather, network health.
Editing an already-registered device or bank in place, instead of remove-and-re-add.
Secure remote access to the dashboard from outside the local network, and a read-only public view separate from the full admin one.
A write-side rate limit for very high-frequency BLE devices — the tiered rollup already bounds long-term storage, but a busy device can still generate a lot of raw rows in its first day before that kicks in.
Longer-term, more speculative: computed/derived fields for Custom Cards (a formula across multiple sources, not just a passthrough), and — much further out — packaging this as something other off-grid/smart-home owners could self-host too.
